This often results from the fact that two copywriters were involved in writing one text \u2013 or that it was pieced together out of several older texts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;50px&#8221;][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Comlexis tidies up: here, for example<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221; el_class=&#8221;two-columns&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div id=\"col2\">\n<p>Typical examples of inconsistencies are abbreviations and units. It says <strong>for example<\/strong> in the first paragraph and <strong>e.g.<\/strong> in the second. Another classic is <strong>\u20ac<\/strong> next to <strong>EUR<\/strong> or <strong>Euro,<\/strong> <strong>%<\/strong> next to <strong>per cent,<\/strong> <strong>kWh<\/strong> next to <strong>kilowatt hour.<\/strong> And then there are hyphens: it\u2019s confusing when <strong>tin-foil, tinfoil<\/strong> and <strong>aluminium foil <\/strong>come across as multiple personalities, when in fact they are one and the same thing. And on it goes with numbers and figures: here there are <strong>three<\/strong> employees, there<strong> 4<\/strong> injection moulding plants, here <strong>twelve<\/strong> sites and there <strong>11<\/strong> anniversaries, all in the same article about the same factory in Wuppertal. But you can even cause confusion without any letters at all: <strong>1000<\/strong> is correct, so is <strong>1,000,<\/strong> and <strong>1 000<\/strong> is acceptable, but using all three together is messy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;50px&#8221;][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Key terms in focus<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221; el_class=&#8221;two-columns&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div id=\"col2\">\n<p>This and much more is taken into account when checking \u201cconsistency of key terms\u201d. We focus on terms that we consider to be important in the context of the text or that appear physically close together so that the inconsistency is obvious. So if it says <strong>website<\/strong> on the first page and <strong>web presence <\/strong>on the twelfth, we\u2019ll let it be, particularly if the text is now dealing with something completely different, such as <strong>health care.<\/strong> But this definitely shouldn\u2019t then be written in the next paragraph as <strong>healthcare.<\/strong> And definitely not as <strong>health-care.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;50px&#8221;][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">One text \u2013 one approach<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation=&#8221;fadeIn&#8221; el_class=&#8221;two-columns&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div id=\"col2\">We always ensure consistency in whichever medium we are currently working on \u2013 e.g. a brochure, flyer or poster.
